Classes at The University of Georgia are back in session and that means our residents have been making their way back to Athens, GA for another great semester here at The Mark Athens. While we hope everyone had an amazing holiday break, we were excited to help kick off UGA Spring 2022 the right way with a variety of residence life events!
On Monday, January 10th, we started off our Welcome Back Week with Back-to-School Coffee and Bagels, where we provided coffee and bagels from Panera in our Clubhouse. We wanted our residents to start their first day back with the most important meal of the day and a cup of coffee to keep them energized. Residents were able to choose from a variety of bagel options including asiago, sesame, cinnamon, chocolate chip, and of course plain and everything bagels. 40 of our residents we ready to get their semester started with a coffee and bagel in hand!
Day two of Welcome Back Week, we held a Self-Care Station in our Clubhouse. We made self-care kits filled with face masks, bath bombs, and shower steamer tablets for our Residents to use as a pick-me-up if their semester gets stressful. We also provided granola bars and water bottles for a nutritious on-the-go snack. We had so many residents show up that we completely ran out of care kits and snacks!
On Wednesday, we held Waffle Wednesday in our Penthouse Lounge area. We set up a station and pre-made batter for Residents to make their waffles. All they had to do was pour batter into a waffle maker and choose from a variety of toppings including chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, strawberries and blueberries, and of course the classics: syrup, butter, and whipped cream! We had a great turnout of smiling residents and delicious-looking waffles.
For day four, we held Virtual Bingo on our Instagram story. Our followers were able to enter to win a Celsius prize pack by participating in the bingo template we shared on our story. A lot of residents responded by completing the challenges on the template and getting three squares in a row. We chose a winner at the end of the day, and they were very happy to receive their prize pack of Celsius cans and powder packets!
Our very last event of Welcome Back Week, we held Bark to School in our Clubhouse. Our furry residents got to mingle with other pups as we spoiled them with treats and new toys to take home and play with. It was a PAW-sitive turnout, and it was a great opportunity for our pet parent residents to meet each other!
It was an awesome week getting our residents geared up for a successful semester at the University of Georgia! We love having the opportunity to provide a best-in-class, UGA off-campus housing experience to our residents, and hosting a variety of engaging events is just one of the many ways we strive to accomplish that.
